My friend Mark took this photo of him and his beautiful dog, Dulcie. I loved the composition and the expression on Mark's face so had to draw it. The title is from the cushion behind Mark's head, which makes you wonder does the dog belong to Mark, or does Mark belong to the dog! Using Faber Castell Polychromos, Faber Castell Albrecht Durer and Caran D'Ache Luminance pencils on Pastelmat 260gsm paper, with some Pan Pastel used in the background.

I started by using Faber Castell Albrecht Durer water soluble pencils to put down a light base, then started working with normal pencils over the watercolour effect.
As usual I captured Mark's eyes first
and then worked up the skin tones
